Go Parthenon
My Parthenon @ 50 years old

The Parthenon is the most famous temple on the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. Constructed between 447 BC and 432 BC and  dedicated to the goddess Athena, the Parthenon is considered

"an enduring symbol of Ancient Greece, Athenian democracy and Western civilization" and "one of the world's greatest cultural monuments.
"

As a Grade 10 History project, I decided to build a scale model of the Parthenon.  With the help of several people (especially my father) I built my Parthenon over the next three years and donated it to St. Stephen High School (SSHS) when I graduated. My Parthenon, protected in a plexiglass case and now more than 50 years old, is housed in the SSHS Library. I took this photo on its 50th birthday. SSHS is probably the only public school in the world with a scale-model replica of the Parthenon!

Much later, I started wondering where other replicas of the Parthenon were located. Surprisingly, there are not many. This website is dedicated to the original Greek Parthenon and all the replicas that followed and to their builders. Here you will find photos of the Greek Parthenon, my replica and others; books about the Parthenon; and other artifacts.

I hope this website inspires you to undertake journeys of your own. ENTER HERE
